I'm currently in the process of writing a new lesson for the Parasite SEO Course Group, which is based on some of my observations of things that have happened over the last week (before I KNEW what I'm about to tell you below).

Basically, a number of Medium accounts have been getting banned or suspended over the last week.

Now, funnily enough, I've mentioned in the new lesson (coming out today) that Medium seems to have gone through culling accounts every 4 months for the last year or so, and then everything returns to "normal".

If should come as no surprise that these "Medium issues" have occured around the time of Google Updates (normally just before or during an update).

Guess what, Google has just released a SPAM Update, which should last for about a week (this could explain what is going over at Medium, so it's simply a case of waiting this week out and seeig where you are. I have provided tips in the new Parasite SEO Course lesson about how to "legitimaize" your online efforts).

That being said, Google have specifically said that they are "NOT dealing with site reputation abuse algorithmically during this update" (this simply means that they are NOT SPECIFICALLY targeting things like parasite SEO during this update), therefore those who have been banned or suspended by Medium (as mentioned in my newest lesson) could have been targeted simply because of the products they were promoting were considred spam or the content they are producing is "thin" (we've seen loads of examples of this in parasite SEO, right?)

Anwyay, Spam Updates typically focus in either "link spam" or "content spam", and it appears that this current update is more focused on "CONTENT SPAM" (does this mean the SERPs will look dramatically different by next week?)

Here's a couple of articles by the "usual suspects" about the SPAM Update

And here are Google's Spam policies, just in case you want a refresher

Let's see what the next week brings!!

And here's some comedy in the form of what people think this Spam update will bring 🤣🤣🤣

"Does the SPAM stand for "Small Publishers Are Meaningless" ? I miss the days when updates favored better content rather than prioritizing big players and killing content sites by calling them spam."

“@JohnMu @searchliaison can this update remove the sitewide classifier still applied to sites since last September HCU? Or do we need to wait for a larger core update?”

“Honestly, it doesn’t matter what update you have under your sleeve. I’m uninstalling Google Site Kit from my site. Seeing constant, declining charts and figures every time I log into WordPress is demoralizing. They remind me that I’ve lost 95% of my traffic for no reason at all.”

“Your harmful monopoly is ruining the internet. Every one of your updates kills more independent websites while boosting spam.”

“Google has turned many helpful websites into lost places”

“Does this update means that Google will start to show my website when users make a “brand search” instead of my pins on pinterest?”

“Interesting to see Google roll out a spam update! I wonder how it will affect Reddit’s ranking in search results. Personally, I haven’t found a lot of truly helpful content there, Reddit is just spamming in search result.”

@partha I was not sure where to set intresting link that Ahrefs recommended higly in their weekly newsletter so I put it in reply around the course.

But as I understood it the say less is more (must admit I had small smile because you had stress the other view). But that be the reason for the knock from Google?

Play part is better.
